Wow, after the tournament I was so incredibly sore....I've got this weird kink/pain in my right trap. Like if I shrug or cross my arm over my chess it hurts like a mofo. It's weird because I've rolled way harder in class and have never been as sore as I was after the tourney. It must be due to the lack of food and all the adrenaline going through your body.
So, even though I was sore I thought the best thing I could do was to get some movement going on Monday. By going to class I figure it would help grease the joints with a little active recovery. Of course I paired up with Sasquatch for class so class was as light as I hoped it would be. :) We practiced side control escapes which is always important to know. I didn't do open mat.
On Tuesday, same thing, still sore but not as bad. Class focused on the overhook from guard. It was cool because I was looking into this a couple weeks ago and there were some cool techniques that I didn't pick up on. The basic cross collar choke was shown, then a sweep by getting a butterfly hook in on the side your overhook is on. Transition to the triangle by pushing opponents arm through and then finally an armbar by taking your over hook hand and catching his free arm's sleeve. We then finished up the class by taking turns with takedowns; I didn't participate in this drill.
During the takedowns portion I saw vanitzia trying some stuff but she was a little off (drop seo nage, double leg). So during the open mat I showed her some finer details for those as well as a single leg and the armdrag. It looks like she picked up on them pretty well. After that I just sat around and finally went home.
Depending on how I feel Thursday I might roll a little. I want to give my body enough time to heal fully. Friday is the takedowns class, I hope I am fully recovered for that class.
