3/19/09 - Adult Jiu jitsu

Class revolved around Knee on belly. We started the class by working from KOB, jumping up to position and going for a submission. Then we learned 3 escapes. 1) stiff arm his hip and shrimp to get to butterfly guard 2) stiff arm his hip, get to your knees and ankle pick 3) push on his foot to obtain half guard.

I began open mat rolling with Big Rich. Man, he is a big guy!!! I was able to get a bow and arrow choke on him eventually but he is so strong that he would muscle out of positions and get me on my back. i was able to get around him with armdrags and shoulder shucks from guard. I eventually had to stop because I hyperextended my right arm slightly. During a scramble I had posted my arm and Rich hit it with his knee...it was not fun.

After some rest, Pete cam in and wanted to roll. This went back and forth again like on Tuesday. For some reason i seem to be gassing pretty quickly and i don't know, my technique seems to be off. We ended up rolling for 15-20 minutes with no one coming out on top. I was spent afterwards.
