The takedowns class continues to be one of my favorite classes currently. The only problem with it right now is the wear and tear it is putting on my body. When getting taken down I instinctively brace myself and this has been causing a weird pain in my arms. My biceps are very sore near the elbow from tightening up real quick. It ends up being pretty painful. So, in preparation for the tourney I've decided to rest from Sunday till the tourney on Saturday.
In class we practiced the moves we learned in prior weeks; single legs and double legs. I am not very comfortable with shooting for a single leg just yet. Doubles I am comfortable with though. The move we learned today was from and underhook to a high crotch and finishing with either a single or double leg. I feel I picked this move up pretty nicely.
We then performed some sharkies, winner staying in. I first went up against Dave B who has been taking privates with Marc (instructor) recently. He is pretty short too so he is able to stay real low on me....He shot in for a single leg and took me down pretty easily. Next time I was in I went against Jamie who was a very good high school wrestler...great technique. He initiated a clinch with his right hand behind my head. I took my left arm and locked his arm in place and spun for an arm spin, catching Jamie and taking him over and down. He was extremely impressed stating the he wasn't expecting that at all.
We finished up with some pushups and situps and called it a day.
